Accessibility
The RCP aims to be welcoming and accessible to all. As such, we are continually updating and improving our provisions for diverse visitors.
Main building accessibility
Visitors who require extra assistance or specialist facilities can either speak to a member of staff when they arrive or book in advance.
Mobility aids
We have two wheelchairs available for visitors to the RCP. We would advise booking at least 24 hours in advance, otherwise we cannot guarantee availability. Folding stools are available in the LG Treasures room and first floor gallery.
Lift Platform
A lift platform is situated along the black rails to the left of the building's main entrance. There is also an inward opening automatic door at the front of the building, giving access to the main reception area and Wolfson Theatre. There is also a main lift within the building which can be used to access all floors.
Large print captions
All our temporary exhibitions are accompanied by large print captions that can be found on the first floor. You can also request a digital copy by emailing history@rcp.ac.uk
Guide and hearing support dogs
We welcome guide dogs and hearing dogs in the gallery. A drinking bowl is available at the cloakroom – just ask a member of staff.
Facilities
Toilet facilities
Wheelchair-accessible toilets are available for visitors who require them in the main building on the lower ground floor.
Changing facilities
Baby changing facilities can be found in the toilets on the lower ground floor.
Autism Friendly
- The building can be very busy and noisy during the day, particularly between 12-2pm.
- Quieter times to visit are on Fridays and during school holidays.
