Making Visible: art installation viewing
12.30pm - 1.30pm
11 St Andrews Place, London, NW1 4LE
A portrait of Grace Pierrepont hung on a wooden backdrop framed by book shelves with books wrapped in strips of blue paper.

Explore Making Visible, a striking new art installation by doctoral researcher Catherine James in the Royal College of Physicians Dorchester Library.

Hundreds of early printed books in the Library have been wrapped in conservation-grade paper, making a powerful visual statement about the overlooked contributions of women to the RCP library. The installation is accompanied by the first-ever display in the library of a portrait of Lady Grace Pierrepont, whose 17th-century donation of books re-established the collection after the Great Fire of London.

There will be an introduction to the art installation by a member of the archives, heritage library and museum team at 12.30pm. Visitors will then be free to explore the installation and exhibition 'A body of knowledge' on the adjacent Gallery until 1.30pm.
